Parking + Transport

We offer parking for one vehicle per booked site at Bug Light Boat Launch in South Portland.

Unless otherwise specified:

CHECK-IN BOAT DEPARTS BUG LIGHT @ 3:30pm

CHECK-OUT BOAT DEPARTS FORTLAND @ 11:00am

Stop at the kiosk, say you are with Fortland
The attendant will give you a parking pass to put on your dashboard. If there is no attendant, don’t worry! Bug Light won’t actually tow.
Drive down to the end (to the dock) and drop off your gear on the lawn.
Please don’t block the boat ramps with your car or your gear.
In some cases, you will be greeted by Fortland staff at this time!
Drive back toward the kiosk, stay to the right, and head into the cement lot. You may part anywhere in that lot.
Write your name and stay dates on your parking pass (if you got one), and leave on your dash board.
Don’t forget your keys!
Walk down back to the boat ramp. Pat yourself on the back. You made it. And early, at that! Enjoy the view for a few minutes while you wait for the boat to arrive.
The Elizabeth Grace, a beautiful red-hulled historic vessel, will arrive on whichever side of the dock is best dependent on wind/tides and current usage — but typically it is on the left, the “take out” side.
Walk your gear down towards the end of the dock to be ready for pick-up.
The Captain will be sure to identify themself as being there for Fortland. Enjoy the ride and we’ll greet you on the island!
